How Trivial... Your Favourite Song(s)

Postby Sapromind » Tue May 20, 2008 8:45 pm

To be honest, I just wanted to know what it's all about with songs like "Eighties" or "Wardance". I know they seem to be very popular (according to last.fm statistics), but it's quite obvious that mostly people who are not so interested in KJ like them (maybe it's a blasphemy with "Wardance", so no offence). You know, I always thought that albums from the 90s were well received by fans, but on the other hand, I've never seen anyone talking about songs like "Pleasures of the Flesh", "Prozac People" or "Intellect". So what it's all about? Is it for real that true KJ fans like only the 1980-1983 era? (Sorry for the word 'true', you know what I'm trying to say.)\
And - hey - every forum has to have that kind of thread, so don't say it's too trivial.\
\
OK, so mine are:\
- Inside the Termite Mound\
- You'll Never Get to Me\
- Pleasures of the Flesh\
...and many more of course, I tried to pick the very favourite..

Many of my *least* favourite songs are those which many hardcore fans put high on their lists. Maybe I've just heard them too much and wish some of the lesser-played ones would make it into KJ's concert playlist. I even get to the point where my eyes wander during live sets waiting for the next tune. I've seen them probably a dozen times or so over the years and 30% of the songs, to my mind, could be rotated out.\
\
But that's just me...

Adorations - for me, this song reflects some beauty the most of all KJ songs. \
\
Mass, The Calling, Medicine Wheel, Aeon, Millennium, Lightbringer... \
but Pssyche, Unspeakable and Butcher are awesome, too...\
and Good Samaritan, Ecstasy, Blue Feather...\
\
It's hard to choose a few. \
Tomorrow, I'd choose a different set : )\

And naturally, it depends mainly on mood...

Yeah, but you have to have some.. you know, like, your own personal anthem. If I am asked for my 'song of the day', maybe it will be "Hollywood Babylon" and "The House That Pain Built" today. It varies. But songs I mentioned earlier will stay in the top for a looong time.

Then I mean Adorations : )\

I also used to play "A New Day" in mornings and "You'll Never Get To Me" in evenings.\
The first one was reminding me that it is "today" when I can find "new ways" -- learn new things, meet someone interesting, change the future... and that I make my day good or bad with my own decisions.\
The second one is a great evening "prayer"; it was my ritual closing of a day, the last song before going to sleep.\
\
But I "over-heard" them \\

Communion, without a doubt. Powerfull song, with this hypnotic violin playing. Really like that eastern influenced tune, just as I like Jaz ' project with Anne Dudley.\
\
Further favorites are Fall of because, Butcher, Song and Dance, Wintergardens, Slipstream, Aeon, DARS, Majestic.........
