User Registrations

Postby Lennonka » Tue Jun 16, 2009 3:43 pm

Cheers, \
\
I've just modified the user registration settings - now, all new registrations must be approved by Administrators.\
This precaution had to be made due to the rising amount of spam accounts.\
\
In the future, it is possible that we will disable creations of new user registrations completely - then, creating new accounts would be only possible on a direct request and Administrators would do this manually.

Just curious - how would you know that person you have to approve or reject is a spammer or a regular person?

Admins are able to check the IP etc. and for example, the last...I think...50 sign ins were names like: looloogetoozoo and such....sometimes they`re stupid enugh to show there interrests and that goes: Sports and Banking...Occupation: Salesman...not the slightest link to KJ see?\
\
Well and the rest is a bit of feeling. But it´s even better than deleting posts that are offering Blowjobs in Russia..or cheap Viagra etctec. And believe me, we were bombed with such a shite during the last month`.

I'm considering to disable it immediately, tonight I've received 4 activation requests with weird names. What do you guys say?\
\
Otherwise, the activation requests are sent by the system only(?) to my e-mail, I couldn't find them anywhere in the Admin. control panel.\
So, I don't know how you would access it, Ralle. Perhaps if I forwarded those messages to you. What do you think? \
Or are you receiving, too? \\

I received `em too.\
\
I would say, leave it as it is now for a while and we`ll see what happens. Probably it`s coming from one or two server and they`ll give in soon when no reply follows.\
\
You can find them in the Admin modus..scroll down, bottom at the opage there´s a block "Inactive users" Click on Watch inactive users" and you or I can delete them by clicking...thats all.\
\
As I said before, I think our instinct is quite good enough to see a KJ connex by the Users name..don`t we?\
\
Best thing would be, if there could be added a question one have to answer before anything will happen...(A question about KJ for sure) that would send those idiots and spammers to hell even before they had a chance to peep in.\
\
Cheers

Cheers again.\
\
I just want to announce that I had to disable registrations completely - suprisingly - because of spam \:)\\
To get an account, now, is only possible when an admin creates it by request (e.g. via e-mail or through a mutual friend).\
\
So that's it.
