Down By the River

Well, can we "officially" talk about the release?\
\
Drums sound very clear and prominent (in beat) on the CD release.\
\
It's not a soundboard recording... at least it doesn't sound like one to me...\
and if so, that is interesting? \
\
Which brings me back to Big Paul's sound...nice and successive,\
and progressive...\
\
I noticed this before I heard them give the big boy Happy B-day shout out...\
so I was not giving him subliminal props...anyways...\
\
Ladbroke Grove is Killer! Wow... now I can really hear that post punk sound...\
the studio release took on too much of the dub for me...here you can hear everything,\
all intruments and players melding together in the groove...\
from their neighborhood where The Clash and they had their stomping grounds...Geordie's \
guitar work is bad ass! You can hear it much better than the studio version...Very nice track!\
\
ok...CD one highlights for me...haven't put on CD 2...

It's a good recording and streets ahead of the awful Concert Live Hammersmith gig.\
The killer tune The Great Cull is to fast though. They need to I slow it down to the same tempo\
as the throbbing studio version. Changing the setlist would help too.\
Get more EDAVRE on there but Big Paul no diggity. I would like to hear\
\
Wilful Days\
Dregs\
Universe B\
Are You Receiving?\
Let's All Go\
Love of the Masses\
\
I am fucking up the thread aren't I?

Does the released CD really sound much better than the download? \
\
I thought that sounded a bit ropey to be honest. If all reverb / delay on the guitars was put on in the mix, then whoever was responsible should never be allowed near a mixing desk again!\
\
Maybe I missed out by not getting the cd - in a way I hope so as the download was such a disappointment I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about...

It does sound better to me. I hear a distint difference on this alienware pc with Klipsch THX speakers. To me, noticably Ghosts on CD1, Depth Charge CD2. I hear the clarity and space between each of the instruments better than the mp3. ON the mixing desk...Clive of course...which to me, he fucks up AD and 2012 castastrophically!

Got my package today CD and Vinyl. Well after all the hassle it was worth it. The CD /DVD Package is excellent (must know I LOVE Diggi Packs! ) The Vinyl looks great too and thank the boyz...their scibblings are only on one inner sleeve! It´ s not 180g audiphile but ok. Sound on CD is far better than the download..clear,crispy thundering ..I love it!\
\
haven`t seen the DVD yet...\
\
Big Paul is the creator of the Cover Art!\
\
And a very very nice move Dave "Daimond Dave" Simpson (Guit. Tech) is mentioned as performer on both CD & Vinyl. Great, cos the guy`s a real gent, a top bloke!

my reaction to the CD is pretty much the same as the gig; first half is brilliant, the second half is the ultimate in pummelling intensity; yes The Great Cull IS fast - exhaustingly so - but it sounds like the very end of all things; and after all, that's surely KJ at their best? \:D\

Got the signed vinyl today and it's already spinning on the good old Dual. The sound (especially drums) is really heavy. Love it. \:D\

...is released officially and unlimited in 5 days. For those who didn't pledge: yes, it is the same 3-disc-cd/dvd-version much cheaper, really recommended!

Michael, my Friend, don`t forget who ( Us Pledgers) made it possible in the first row that it`s seen it`s physical release anyway...same goes for In Dub! I know you as a real good character..but pledging seems to be the only way to keep alternative music going on...whatever any Band does with the surplus...but without Pledge ther won`t be an Amazon Offer of the named about..right? \;)\ \:)\ \
\
Still love you Sir! \:D\
